SUCCESSFUL AEROMOTIONS SCCA SOLO DEBUT ON SIAS TUNING CAR

AEROMOTION DEBUTS AT SCCA SOLO AND SETS TIME AT TOP OF STANDINGS

Sunday (08/10/2008), Albany, California.  Once again, 3-time National Champion Vic Sias ran the Aeromotions Active Wing Assembly on his Sias Tuning Street Modified M3, this time at a San Francisco Region Solo Event at Golden Gate Fields.  Running in the the morning run group, Vic along with the other morning drivers struggled with poor surface grip on a particularly tight course.  Vic set top time of the day on his runs before packing up for the day.

As conditions changed in the afternoon, the top time would later be re-set by one sole hot-shoe, friend-of-Aeromotions, Scott Fraser who in the afternoon conditions masterfully navigated his CSP Miata around the tight circuit.  Scott later commented, “I have a spare Miata trunk… let’s put an Active Wing Assembly on and run in Street Modified 2!”

A crowd gathered around Vic’s car to check out the new wing while it went through its startup operations-check sequence.  As the car took to the track, the crowd got to see the wing in operation.

“That is a great idea,” and “Wow!” was heard multiple times in the pits.

On his first run, Vic noted some oversteer in the higher-speed portions of the course.  A few button presses later, and the wing was set to help that condition while still adapting to specific conditions at each part of the course.  As Vic pulled in his 2nd run to set fast time, it was apparent the adjustments worked.  Aerodynamics without compromise.

Aeromotions will be back on the track in two weeks time at Thunderhill Raceway park where they will be doing testing on the high-speed Thunderhill course.  Stay TUNED.

VIC SIAS GETS THE FIRST RUN

AEROMOTIONS DEBUTS THE ACTIVE DYNAMIC WING ASSEMBLY at a super duper secret event. OK, it was a NorCal Porsche Club event…

Last Sunday (08/02/2008), 3-time SCCA Street Modified National Champion Vic Sias ran our prototype AeroMotions Active Dynamic Wing Assembly on its maiden voyage at a NorCal Porsche Club event outside of Marina Ca. Much to Vic’s pleasure, he was immediately out on top for the day.

“What the F!@$ is that!” immediately rumbled through the on-lookers, gawkers, and course workers, as they watched Sias’ car charging around the cones at the ol’  Marina Airbase. Said gawkers and fellow enthusiasts took note at the airplane-like dynamic rudders quickly moving up and down controlling down force and stability as if some kid was sitting shotgun controlling the wing with a joystick.

Even on the initial run for our Wing Assembly, Vic seemed ecstatic as our Active Assembly helped do everything from shaving speed while on the brakes, increasing straightaway speed, keeping the car planted through corners, to even correcting oversteer.

Vic had this to say:

“After my first run,  I mentioned to Ryan and Greg (senior techies for AeroMotions) that I was getting some oversteer while exiting corners.  They pushed a few buttons, and on the next run, everything was much better!  The wing was giving downforce where I needed it while magically adjusting itself to give less drag on the straightaway.  No compromises like with a fixed wing.”

We couldn’t have hoped for a better debut-even if it was a secret one. Vics top time of the day stood its ground–much to the chagrin of the numerous Porsche drivers.
