Forged had a really great weekend at Carolina Motorsports Park, in spite of the 6-8 inches of snow that fell on Friday night which made for a VERY exciting haul from Atlanta to Kershaw, SC. They arrived to the track on Saturday morning, to the sight of a half foot of snow over the entire track. Surprisingly, by noon, the snow melted and the track completely dried out.

By the end of the weekend, they set the fastest lap recorded at a NASA Time Trial event at CMP, with a hot lap of 1:36.8. This bested the previous record, held by a 996 TT, by over 3 seconds. The track was a handful to say the least and very green after all the snow. Grip was lacking, and the track was very inconsistent through the day.

Come check out the 2009 Redline Time Attack Unlimited Champion AMS EVO X. Pushing over 188mph at Auto Club Speedway, this car is seriously fast. An R2.TWO Dynamic Wing keeps it glued to the track at those high speeds. While at the Chicago Auto Show, the Dynamic Wing will be on demo mode.

Quirt Crawford, owner of Crawford Performance, came to us with a simple problem. Huge amounts of power, not enough stick. Adding the R2.TWO glued his STI to the track, and increased stopping power.

How well does it work? After getting used to the active aero, they turned off the R2.TWO brake assist and the car slid off track. When the dusty Subaru came back, Tarzan said, “the wing works”.

Some people can’t resist pushing the envelope. They subscribe to the aerospace mantra – Higher, Faster, Further. We’re right there with them. Out of the box, the Ultima GTR holds multiple world speed records. Adding the Dynamic Wing S2 pushes it even further. On high speed runs, the S2 automatically tucks flat to reduce drag. 6/26/09 Nashville, TN. Redline Time Attack at the Nashville Super Speedway.

Saturday’s practice went as expected with both teams gradually getting quicker and quicker as the day went on. The conditions were hot but the skies were clear for the day’s events. Back and forth, AMS and Sierra Sierra traded the fastest laps; each team within mere tenths of a second of each other. At the end of the day, it was the AMS/NOS Energy Drink EVO X piloted by Mark Daddio that had the fastest lap in class and for the day with a 1:02.7 besting the Sierra Sierra car by only two tenths of a second. The stage was set for Sunday.

The AMS/NOS Energy Drink EVO X took the number one position in grid. In the first round, AMS charged around the bank clearly on a mission to lay down a fast lap. As it rounded the final bend, Mark Daddio sailed across the finish with a time of 1:01.296 – breaking the track record for a lap in competition at the Nashville Super Speedway by nearly 2.5 seconds! Aeromotions is developing an active aero package for the 997: the Dynamic Wing RS, and the Dynamic Splitter RS. While the wing looks the same as the factory 997.1 GT3 RS wing, its unique blade design provides more downforce, lower drag, and the benefit of full active control.

Project RS is using the same computer design | track testing methods that led our Nissan GT-R package – a wing that helped break a 5-year-old wet skid pad record at the Tire Rack.

The Dynamic Wing RS will be offered as a complete 997 RS wing and deck lid replacement. This enables 997 owners run the Aeromotions’ RS package, and preserves the ability to return an RS to unmodified condition. The first package will be tested on the beautiful black RS pictured above. The AMS Performance | NOS Energy Drink Evo X debuted with a podium finish at the Redline Time Attack at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, IL. Keeping this 600 WHP beast glued to the pavement was a custom mounted R2.Static wing. Trading fast time of the day with the Crawford Performance STI, the AMS Evo proved to be a potent competitor right out of the box. After this initial shakedown, AMS will be adding the R2 Dynamic Module to run the R2.TWO Dynamic Wing™. We’re excited to see what AMS can do with the newest Dynamic Wing™! Learn more about the R2.

Over the ensuing week, Taylor and Rankins used the in-cabin remote control to quickly and effectively dial in the right amount of down force for each new track in the series.

“While other teams spent twenty minutes every time they wanted to adjust their aero setups for a given track, we were able to optimize our Aeromotions wing in twenty seconds and ended up with the perfect tune.” – Will Taylor.

At Daytona, Taylor ran a blistering 2:00.34 on the 24hrs track configuration. It’s impressive to see a street legal GT-R, running street tires, turn in times equivolant to the GT1 cars of ‘96. His top speed of the morning session was 173.5mph. After tweaking the wing a little more, Taylor hit 177mph in the afternoon.

Aeromotions joined the west coast GT-R crew at Buttonwillow to do some final tuning and development of our new wing, the R2. Rated to 200 mph, the R2 is the single piece variant of the Dynamic Wings.  The R2 runs the same wing profile as the S wings, and has our first ever in cabin remote control.  This allows the wing angles to be easily tuned from the drivers seat.  It also allows you to override the computer control, dropping the wing to straightaway angle, or raising it to braking angle, at the push of a button.  Most importantly, the R2 is priced at $3,250 -$3,500.

Aeromotions is currently delivering R2 pre-orders to a number of top RTA teams.  The wing will officially go on sale May 1st.  If you need, need, need one before then, let us know.
